WOW! I haven't touched this blog in almost a year lol. Just wanted to do a quick update on Miah :)
She's 21 months and full of energy , personality and charm! She's a walking, talking, tantrum throwing toddler. But the best one ever :)
She's SUCH a talker. She repeats everything and catches on super quick. She communicates great and tells me exactly what it is she wants. If she wants a snack and she's okay with any of the options she just tells me she wants a snack. If she wants crackers in particular, she says it, If she wants an apple, she says it, etc. she knows how to communicate with us and does it well. I'm shocked by how many words she actually knows. It amazes us how quickly she picks up on things and communicates them back to us.
She loves to make people smile and laugh. Walking through the grocery store she waves to people and points things out. If we're not paying attention to her shell make a funny face or a funny noise to get our attention and then she cracks up lol.
She's 110% girly girl. She LOVES her toe nails painted (and will hold perfectly still as I paint them, then blows on them, then walks around saying "pretty toes!") she loves having her hair done and Loves pretty sparkly things. She hates her hands being dirty and hates when her hair falls in her face. She often asks me to pin it back or move it out of her face for her.
But don't let her girly ways fool you. The girls a thrill seeker and can take a fall.
She's currently obsessed with our dog aspen. We call her the miniature Cesar Milan. She'll tell the dog "no!" Or "go out" or "bad!" Or "leave it" and 90% of the time aspen actually listens to her LOL. They play very well together and aspen seems to bring such joy to Miah. She's able to be a little rougher with a 40lb Saint Bernard then she could be with our 12 lb cat lol!
She loves helping with laundry and she enjoys having a job to do. If she's not busy she's getting into something she's not supposed to be. She's not a sit in front of the tv kind of kid. She would rather be building with her blocks, reading with me, playing fetch with aspen or playing outside. I really love that about her. She seems a lot like me in the sense that she LOVES to learn and she tries to soak up every bit of information she's given.
She's very affectionate and loves giving us hugs and kisses. I often wake up to her giving me kisses or hugs in the morning. She enjoys randomly running over to me through out the day and giving me a hug or kiss or sitting with me to snuggle for a few minutes. She loves affection and we make sure she's got tons of it :)

Update :-)
It's been far too long but I am lacking two very important components of being a successful blogger. 1) time. 2) Internet!
All we have is my iPhone and I just can't type as fast on that as I can on a computer lol.
Anyway.... All is well. Miahs going to be 10 months way too soon...(::sigh:: her first birthday is so close I can taste it .... But that's another topic *that is very difficult for me to discuss* for another day!! ).
She's 19lbs and still such a shorty. Currently in 9th percentile for length lol she's not crawling or walking or Anything but she wants to!!! She can pull herself up if we offer our hands (she's got such strong legs!!!) and she gets in a position on one knee that looks like she may crawl but so far, nada! No teeth have come in yet either.
She loves to wave hello and bye bye. She loves saying mama and papa and haha. She makes herself laugh all the time. She loves being outside. She makes noise constantly like Shes talking (even in her sleep!!!). She loves snuggles and loves being held. She LOVES music and singing. We swear she's going to be musical in some way just by her reaction to music. She's a very good eater. Still not big on fruits but loooooves her veggies!!!! Avocado is still a top favorite for her. She's a big yogurt and cottage cheese fan too.
She's a great eater and I love it.
Right now she's dealing with her first ear infection but she's taking it like a champ. She's in pain at night but during day is fine ! She's on antibiotic this time but looking into more natural methods for next time possibly.
That's about it! Not a whole lot new otherwise :) okay time for bed so I can hang with my bun bun tomorrow !

Stay at home mom
Just to clarify :
Being a stay at home mom isn't the easiest job in the world. But I do believe it's one of the most rewarding. People seem to think u have the easiest job in the world and you're home all day so how can it be hard ? They don't understand when you get stressed out how on earth you could be stressing!! I used to be one of these people believing the same thing .. But....let me tell you what I've learned.
I dont get weekends off, holidays , sick days or bonuses .. I don't have the option of calling out .. (even when I'm sick as a dog!!)
I don't get lunch breaks ... In fact a majority of the time I don't even eat until the afternoon because miah needs something.
I can't question my boss or talk to her if I think she's being unfair .... My boss is a 18 lb 26 inch 8 month old!!
I don't get bathroom breaks. (moms should get a discount on "depends" hahaha. Jk :) )
I don't get 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.
Don't mix my words.. I absolutely love being a stay at home mom. It's all I've ever wanted. But it kills me when people think I'm not allowed to have a bad day because I don't have a "real" job or when they say I shouldn't be tired because I can sleep all day. Yeah right!!! I have an alarm clock that goes off every morning at 8. I can't hit snooze ... Because miah is the alarm clock and god didnt put a snooze button on her lol.
Stay at home moms don't have it easy raising a child is one of the most important job god gives us. But I wouldn't trade it for the world.
when that little girl snuggles up to her mama or shoots me the biggest smile when she learns something new... That's better than any promotion or raise I could ever receive.
It's not an easy task day to day, and especially when I'm so sick I feel like I can't get out of bed. But my baby deserves all of me everyday and no matter how I'm feeling , I have to and want to give it to her!
I'm very thankful to god and my amazing husband for making it possible for me to be home with miah!!! But I hope people realize if a Sahm is tired or stressed every so often... We have reason to be!! Shout out to all my Sahms out there. :)

A healthy eater!
Something very important to me for Miah was for her to develop healthy eating habits & to be healthy. I started this when I got pregnant. My entire pregnancy I ate veggies. All sorts, all cooked different ways, and all super duper tasty!!! I had gone through fertility treatments, and I knew this precious life in my body was fragile, and I knew it was SUCH an honor to have that baby inside of me. I was NOT going to screw anything up!!! So, I watched EVERYTHING that went in my body. I ate vegetables & meats. Salads. Fruit. Ate avocado & guacamole like it was my job. Drank TONS of water. I was the healthiest pregnant person ever!
While I was pregnant, we decided we would not introduce fruit to Miah until she was closer to a year old, and had acquired a taste to vegetables. I knew A LOT of babys who had been given fruit before vegetables & they wouldn't eat half of their vegetables. They wanted the sweetness of the fruit. So we decided with Miah, we wouldn't give her the sweeter fruits, and we'd get her used to veggies so she'd choose the veggies over the fruit as she gets older (hopefully!)
I was very excited to start giving her food and to test my theory. At just about 6 months (two months after starting rice cereal) - we started giving Miah solids. She's been doing great with it and LOVES eating!!! She gets so excited when she sees her baby spoon!!! She LOVES avocado, green beans, broccoli, acorn squash & carrots and she HATES banana. She wouldn't even open her mouth to the banana after one bite lol. I am SO excited that avocado & green bean are on the top of her list, as those have the most nutritional value for babies!
I've been making all of Miah's food and I love it!!! It is sooo much fun and so easy! I love knowing that she's getting fresh stuff, and I love knowing whats going in her body. In addition to that, we signed up for a CSA (community supported agriculture) program this summer, and every week we'll be going to a local farm & picking up fresh vegetables & fruits & herbs & flowers for our family! Can't wait!!!!
So as of now, the vegetable only thing is going well, and she seems to be a veggie lover. (So many people were shocked when I said she loves green beans & avocado. LOL) ... But ill keep you updated on her progress :)

Starting traditions for the holidays.
The holiday season is coming upon us and i've NEVER been so excited about it. This year we have the best gift we've ever been given.....Our sweet little girl! Some say this year doesn't matter, because she's too young and she wont remember any of what we do. But, to Mike and I it's important to establish our own family traditions with Miah. It's also hard to not go overboard when it comes to her. Sure she wont remember but it's fun, and she'll see pictures and be able to see what an awesome childhood she had.
HALLOWEEN! : We started our very first tradition today, which was to go to a pumpkin patch and pick a pumpkin for halloween! She had a good time, and liked being outside. We're going to carve it for her. Maybe as she gets older we'll learn how to bake pumpkin cookies or pumpkin pie and pick pumpkins for that as well as our carving pumpkin. It was a lot of fun to Mike and I to go to the pumpkin patch, and show her something new. She LOVES the outdoors, and was in a great mood while we were there. This year for Halloween i'm not necessarily dressing her up in a costume (She's way too cute! I don't want her to be anything but HER!) but she's wearing a onesie that says "My first Halloween" and I made her a orange & green tutu as well as a orange flower headband. So she's just going to be festive :) Next year we'll dress her up! In something girly of course! :)
THANKSGIVING! : We usually go to My in-laws then my Aunts. But we want to do a tradition of our own. Some of the one's i've considered starting for our family are going to thanksgiving parades, making "handprint"turkey cookies of Miah's hands for our family to enjoy that look like turkeys, and making Miah's meals (as she gets older) look fun!
CHRISTMAS EVE! : On Christmas eve since i've been with Mike we have gone to church with his family, and had chinese food after that, and open our stockings at His parents house. This year since we both go to different churches now, We will both go to our church services, then meet up and do dinner and stockings. When we come home, Mike, Miah & I will wear our matching christmas PJ's (Whatever I make or buy that year! Corny, Matching PJS is a must :) ) and read the christmas story from the bible.
(SANTA: The whole "Santa" thing is still up in the air. I grew up believing in santa and LOVED it. it never scarred me when I found out that there wasn't really a santa. I was bummed but got over it real fast. I had SO much fun baking cookies for santa & leaving milk and cookies for him (and carrots for the reindeer!) before I went to bed, and waking up the next morning to find that he ate the cookies & drank the milk! It was SO exciting, and I loved it. It was one of my fondest memories I have as a child. It really allowed me to be a kid, and use my imagination and to just have FUN. I would of never thought of NOT doing this for my child, but my husband was not raised with the whole believing in santa thing. He was read the story of Saint Nicholas, and taught obviously that Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus (as was I.) .. He doesn't feel like he really missed out on anything with not believing in santa, and I can't imagine my childhood without believing in santa! I always knew the real meaning of christmas, but santa was just a fun thing for me. So He and I will discuss it more, and make a decision for how to raise Miah)
CHRISTMAS! : This is my favorite holiday. The day Christ was born! We usually float between my in-laws, and my Aunt's. But we've told them both that we're not running like crazy on Christmas anymore. We want Miah to have plenty of time to play with her toys, and be home with us. So in the morning we will stay home, open our presents, play, take tons of pictures, watch whatever appropriate christmas movie that's on TV, and make christmas morning breakfast! Then we'll go to family's house. The nice thing is, our families get along very well and enjoy celebrating holidays together. So it wont be too much of a problem to get everyone in one place! Christmas is just a day together as a family, and I love it. It's 10x better that this year we'll have baby Miah to celebrate with!
That was my blog for the holidays since they are quickly approaching, and since I am VERY VERY VERY excited for them and for the new traditions we will start as a family of 3!!! :)

WAKE UP!!!
Just a quick post to all the moms out there........
How is it that I hear Miah's every sound at night, Her sighs, her farts, her coos, her grunts. But when she's crying her head off, and freaking out inconsolably, Mike can't hear her????? My question is, how can you sleep through it!!! Miah still sleeps in our room, so she's right there with Daddy in the same room, and he can't hear her meltdowns. WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I don't get it!!!!
Is this a man/dad thing?!? On Tuesdays & Wednesdays he wakes up with her, and everytime, without fail, I have to reach over and shake him fiercely and say loudly "MIKE!!!" .... and he wakes up. LOL. If I just sit there and tap him, or gently call his name, he doesn't budge.
I just thought it was funny, and wanted to share. Do you have a husband who's "tuned out" to baby when he's sleeping?!

The perfect baby if only...............
It's been awhile! Thing's with us have been hectic! A cold made it's way through our entire household. Miah had some extra sneezing & coughing than usual, Mike was sick for a day then felt better, and Mama got it the worst for a few days. It is HARD being sick with a baby!!!!!!!!!!!
Baby's arent easy. Miah is no exception. She hates sitting still, craves movement & interaction, and she's not the baby who you can lay down in the bouncer while you clean. She's the baby who wants to be WITH YOU IN THE ACTION when you clean , or do anything! She's a bit "high maintenance" ..
BUT, She is an AMAZING child and is SO dorky & cute & fun!!! This girl loves to be silly & have a great time.
I often say "she's the perfect baby!!!" .... then I follow it up with "if she never had to sleep!!!!!!"
I say this because:
Miah & Falling asleep do NOT get along. She for some reason, can't figure out that if she's tired, she just had to put her head down and close her eyes. It's a very tough concept for her, which leads to her FREAKING OUT about falling asleep. EVERYDAY....EVERY naptime, EVERY bedtime...we have a fight with her. She freaks out...screams, cries, kicks....until she gets so tired she gives in. She has only ever fallen asleep on our shoulders twice, and has NEVER fallen asleep on the floor playing with us. We've tried holding her and rocking, we've tried walking and bouncing, We've tried laying her down in her swing, we've tried laying her in her bassinet, we've tried laying her in her crib,we've tried her playpen. NOTHING works, until she gets so tired she gives up and passes out. We have a bedtime routine with her, which is Bath, bottle while listening to instrumental music in a dark room, then putting her down. She still gets cranky and fusses or screams, but it has helped a bit.
I have cried numerous times over this WITH Miah. We let her cry it out, only to find out that she was too young, and she didn't get it at all. So, I decided to try to get some answers, and see if there was anything we could do to help Miah calm down a little bit when it comes to falling asleep. We called the doctor, who was useless, and just said "thats too early for her to be fighting her sleep so bad!! thats so weird!" .. well no kidding, thats why were calling you!!!!!!!!! Then I decided that since she was due for a chiropractic adjustment (babies get them every 2 months unless there's an issue, then more frequently.) so I researched and found a chiropractor who specialized in infants. We went to him and loved him. He recommended going to the health food store (which is my FAVORITE PLACE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i knew i liked this guy lol) and get camomilla and dilute it and give it to Miah. We got something with camomilla in it and gave Miah a quarter of the dose, since she's so small. We can't tell if it's made a difference or not. She calms down a little while after we give it to her, but, she calms down after she gets tired enough anyway. So we're not entirely sure if it's helped or not. We're going back this week, and she's getting adjusted again, and we're talking to him more. We love chiropractic care, and completely believe it's the central line to your health. We believe the body should be treated as a whole unit, rather than as individual components. We've experienced great results through it. I had adjustments all throughout my pregnancy, and while it didn't help my pubic bone issues at all, It certainly made me feel better, and helped me relax during a really stressful time!
Does anyone have any tips or know of any other babies like this? I'd love to hear more about what worked for them, or if anything has. I've read that once you have a high maintenance baby that it never "goes away" but the needs just change. It's OUR JOB as parents to adjust to what Miah needs, and who she is as a person! But if anyone has anything to add to this, i'd love to hear it :)
